When Gambit lost director Rupert Wyatt last year, it became clear that meeting its October 7th, 2016 release date would be a challenge. While Fox quickly found a new helmer in Edge of Tomorrow’s Doug Liman, the movie lost its scheduled November start date, and now the studio has taken it completely off the release schedule and it currently remains undated.

Don’t panic yet though because this doesn’t meant the Channing Tatum led release has been cancelled or anything as drastic as that; they clearly just need time to get things in order.

10 things we definitely need to see in the Deadpool sequel

However, on the plus side, the studio has dated an “Untitled Fox/Marvel Film” for October 6th, 2017 and another for January 12th, 2018. Could those be the dates for the Deadpool sequel and X-Force? Seeing as Fox has yet to remove Fantastic Four 2 from their schedule, chances are that they could put Gambit in that June 2017 slot to give Liman more time.

It’s also possible that one of those dates could be for another X-Men movie, but with Bryan Singer set to move on to 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea after X-Men: Apocalypse, chances are that Fox are taking their time when it comes to deciding what’s next for that franchise…
