‘Black Widow’ star, Florence Pugh, has entered into early talks to join Denis Villeneuve’s part 2 of the epic remake ‘Dune’.
Pugh is up for the role of Princess Irulan, the daughter of Emperor Shaddam IV, the ruler who sent the Atreides to Arrakis. The role of the Emperor is also being cast, as is Baron Harkonnen’s lethal nephew Feyd-Rautha.
Pugh would join the returning cast that includes Timothée Chalamet, Zendaya, Rebecca Ferguson and Javier Bardem, among others.
Part 2 is set to carry on from where the first one left off, telling the rest of the story of Frank Herbert’s seminal 1965 novel of the same name, with Paul Atreides (Chalamet) fighting alongside the Fremen to free the desert planet of Arrakis from the grips of House Harkonnen.
The script is still being written, and Pugh is said to be waiting for the latest draft. Filming is scheduled to begin on part 2 this summer.
Pugh is currently also in the running for the Madonna biopic, she is currently shooting a role in the Christopher Nolan drama ‘Oppenheimer’ and is coming off appearing in Marvel Studios’ Disney+ series ‘Hawkeye’, which debuted during the Christmas season.
