Last month, Warner Bros. made the unprecedented move of allowing Justice League set visit reports to be published around a year and a half before the movie is released. A big part of that no doubt has something to do with damage control after the mixed response to Batman v Superman (especially with the upcoming release of the Ultimate Edition), but it’s important not to forget that before that superhero ensemble arrives, we have Wonder Woman.

Now, before that movie is shown off at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con, the studio has released an official synopsis shedding some light on what we should expect from Diana Prince’s return to the big screen following Gal Gadot’s debut as the character back in March.

Before she was Wonder Woman, she was Diana, princess of the Amazons, trained to be an unconquerable warrior,” it teases. “Raised on a sheltered island paradise, when an American pilot crashes on their shores and tells of a massive conflict raging in the outside world, Diana leaves her home, convinced she can stop the threat. Fighting alongside man in a war to end all wars, Diana will discover her full powers…and her true destiny.” Sound pretty great, eh?

The cast of Wonder Woman includes Chris Pine, Connie Nielsen, Robin Wright, David Thewlis, Danny Huston, Elena Anaya, Ewen Bremner and Saïd Taghmaou. Directed by Patty Jenkins, Warner Bros. has now revealed that the screenplay was written by Allan Heinberg and Geoff Johns, from a story by Zack Snyder and Allan Heinberg. That’s an unexpected development.

Still, it definitely points to the character being in the right hands, especially as comic book scribe Geoff Johns (who is writing The Batman with Ben Affleck) was more involved than previously thought. Hopefully we’ll see a lot more from Wonder Woman very soon…
