Marvel and Netflix have released the first clip from Luke Cage, the next show in The Defenders series which kicked off with Daredevil and Jessica Jones. Iron Fist comes after Luke Cage, while The Punisher is also in the works (though that’s yet to begin shooting).
In the clip, we see Mike Colter’s Luke Cage shrugging off an attack from some formidable looking goons. Needless to say, the hero for hire lives up to the Power Man name here!
The official synopsis for the series reveals that after a sabotaged experiment leaves him with super strength and unbreakable skin, Luke Cage becomes a fugitive trying to rebuild his life in modern day Harlem, New York City. But he is soon pulled out of the shadows and must fight a battle for the heart of his city–forcing him to confront a past he had tried to bury.
Colter is joined in Luke Cage by Simone Missick as Misty Knight, Frank Whaley as Rafael Scarfe, Mahershala Ali as Cottonmouth, Theo Rossi as Shades, Alfre Woodard as Mariah Dillard, and Rosario Dawson as Claire Temple, a character Luke met back in Jessica Jones.
The show will premiere on Netflix at the end of September, so stay tuned for updates!
