Iron Man 3 will be kicking off Marvel’s Phase Two in style in the spring, and the anticipation could not be higher.

We got a sneak peek at the teaser trailer yesterday, which was immense, and with the teaser itself set to drop tomorrow, USA Today have debuted a handful of new images, along with two official stills, giving us our first official images Gwyneth Paltrow reprising her role as Pepper Potts alongside Robert Downey, Jr.’s Tony Stark / Iron Man, and Don Cheadle as James Rhodes / War Machine in what the Internet has been debating for months with talk of the Iron Patriot Armour.

“Marvel Studios’ Iron Man 3 pits brash-but-brilliant industrialist Tony Stark/Iron Man against an enemy whose reach knows no bounds. When Stark finds his personal world destroyed at his enemy’s hands, he embarks on a harrowing quest to find those responsible. This journey, at every turn, will test his mettle. With his back against the wall, Stark is left to survive by his own devices, relying on his ingenuity and instincts to protect those closest to him. As he fights his way back, Stark discovers the answer to the question that has secretly haunted him: does the man make the suit or does the suit make the man?”

Don Cheadle, Guy Pearce, Rebecca Hall, Stephanie Szostak, James Badge Dale, Jon Favreau, and Ben Kingsley complete the cast brilliantly, with Paul Bettany expected to reprise his role as the voice of JARVIS.

Shane Black (Kiss Kiss Bang Bang) has taken over the helm in Favreau’s place, and from the seventeen seconds of awesomeness we saw yesterday, looks to have done a fantastic job. Black is directing from a script he co-wrote with Drew Pearce, a rising new talent in Hollywood who is very much on everyone’s radar.

Iron Man 3 will be released in 3D on 26th April, 2013, here in the UK, followed by a 3rd May release in the US. The teaser trailer will be dropping tomorrow, and we’ll have it for you as soon as it hits. In the meantime, enjoy these brilliant new images*, which you can click to enlarge. This is going to be nothing short of incredible.

*The final image is a close-up of Rhodey’s name on what everyone’s been referring to as the Iron Patriot Armour. We probably won’t know exactly what’s what until the spring, but that mystery just fuels how much I want to see it.
