Earlier this week, a statue of Dane DeHaan as the Green Goblin started doing the rounds, giving fans a slightly better idea as to what they should expect when he suits up as the iconic villain in Marc Webb’s The Amazing Spider-Man 2.

We’ve so far seen only the briefest of glimpses of DeHaan as the Goblin, but Sony clearly weren’t happy that moviegoers were getting their first proper look at him via an uncompleted piece of merchandise.

That explains then why they have today released the first official image of this movie’s Green Goblin in action as he takes down Spider-Man in what looks set to be a brutal fight scene.

The fact that it’s Harry who takes on this villainous persona before his father has already caused some controversy among fans, and this is the third version of the character (after Willem Dafoe and James Franco’s takes in Spider-Man and Spider-Man 3 respectively) to be brought to the big screen bearing no resemblance to his comic book counterpart.

Dane DeHaan

Starring Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone, Jamie Foxx, Dane DeHaan, Chris Cooper and Paul Giamatti, The Amazing Spider-Man 2 is set to be released in the UK on 18th April and in the US on May 2nd.
