The film will be premiering in competition at Cannes later this month, and a new clip (with French subtitles) has surfaced ahead of its release.
Cronenberg has adapted Don DeLillo’s original novel for the screen, and assembled a great cast led by Robert Pattinson, supported by Jay Baruchel, Juliette Binoche, Samantha Morton, Paul Giamatti, Sarah Gadon, and Kevin Durand.
“28-year-old financial wizard and billionaire Eric Packer traverses Manhattan in his stretch limo. His goal: a haircut at Anthony’s, his father’s old barber. But on this day his driver has to navigate a presidential visit, an attack by anarchists and a rapper’s funeral. Stuck in traffic, he anxiously monitors the value of the yen on the limo’s computer.”
After its premiere at Cannes this month, it will then be released in France on 25th May (no doubt why much of what we’ve seen from the film so far has been subbed). As yet, the UK and US remain without releases scheduled, but given the talent behind and in front of the camera, it’s safe to say that distribution shouldn’t be a problem, and here’s to hoping it’ll be coming to the big screen in the next few months.
