There was a lot of scepticism from fans surrounding a reboot of the Planet of the Apes franchise back in 2011, but the series has so far exceeded expectations with Rupert Wyatt’s Rise of the Planet of the Apes and Matt Reeves’ follow-up, Dawn of the Planet of the Apes.

Next up is War for the Planet of the Apes, and the first behind the scenes footage from the movie has now been released along with the official logo (which you can see above).

It doesn’t reveal much, but we do see Ceasar and his fellow apes going to war, an indication that the War for the Planet of the Apes is definitely going to live up to its title. The video also reveals how you can win a role in the movie (if you’re good at pretending to be an ape).

In War for the Planet if the Apes, a growing nation of genetically evolved apes led by Caesar is threatened by a band of human survivors of the devastating virus unleashed a decade earlier. They reach a fragile peace, but it proves short-lived, as both sides are brought to the brink of a war that will determine who will emerge as Earth’s dominant species.

With a release date of July 14, 2017, stay tuned for more on War for the Planet of the Apes!
