Quentin Tarantino’s Django Unchained will be unleashed in US theatres on Christmas Day, and naturally there’s a huge level of anticipation for his return to the big screen.

In tandem with the film’s release, Tarantino is partnering up with Sony Pictures and Sony Electronics for the Django Unchained Movie Contest, offering aspiring filmmakers around the world an opportunity to have their work reviewed by the Oscar-winning writer-director, himself.

Naturally, there’s a set of Official Rules on the contest’s official website – www.djangomoviecontest.co.uk – with the full details, but to sum up:

Participants need to submit a video (max. of one per person) that illustrates their best work as a filmmaker. The video should be no longer than five minutes in length, and can be either self-contained, or feature a collection of their work (i.e. montage-style).

The deadline for entrants is 11:59 p.m. PT on 7th November (which is 6:59 a.m. the next morning, here in the UK), so any and all aspiring filmmakers can head on over to the official site and get uploading.

And if you’re reading this, you’re no doubt already aware that Tarantino’s latest film has an all-star cast, led by Jamie Foxx as the eponymous Django, alongside Christoph Waltz, Leonardo DiCaprio, Kerry Washington, Samuel L. Jackson, Jonah Hill, Don Johnson, and Walton Goggins.

Django Unchained will be hitting US theatres on Christmas Day, before coming to the UK slightly later on 18th January in the New Year. I can’t wait. A brilliant start to a new year at the cinema.
