I absolutely love movie scores. I must have around 30 or 40 different ones from different movies and I’m sure some of you out there will have many more than that. Warner Bros. have tapped into the many of us that love them and have released this brand new featurette which looks specifically at how the movie soundtrack has come together.

French composer, Alexandre Desplat has been tasked with creating the score for Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1 and as we’ve seen from the trailers, his work is sounding phenomenal. John Williams has composed three of the movies and is responsible for the famous Harry Potter tune that you’ll no doubt be singing in your head now as you read this but when you watch the featurette below, you’ll see that Desplat has taken his work and made it much darker and bolder to fit in with the story lines of the movie.

I know nothing about music really, all I know is that I love movie scores. They can often be the best part of a movie (Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen / Pirates of the Caribbean 2) and a good composer can add their music into the movie where you don’t even notice it. I must have listened to The Rock score 100 times and I love the storytelling in it. I;m sure my love of the score will die long after watch the movie will!

Anyway, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1 stars Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint, Emma Watson, Tom Felton, Ralph Fiennes, Alan Rickman, Bill Nighy, Jamie Campbell Bower, Bonnie Wright, Helena Bonham Carter, Timothy Spall, Michael Gambon, Rhys Ifans, Maggie Smith, John Hurt, Jason Isaacs, Ciaran Hind and is released 19th November and you can find out more about how the score was created by watching this featurette below.
