It was recently revealed that while Michael Fassbender is going to have a leading role in Alien: Covenant (which was briefly known as Alien: Paradise Lost), Noomi Rapace will be coming back for the Prometheus sequel in what sounds like little more than a cameo.

Well, we now know who the new female lead will be, and that’s Katherine Waterston’s “Daniels”. No character details are available, though you’ll no doubt be familiar with the actress from her performances in movies like Inherent Vice and most recently Steve Jobs.

Waterston has also landed a lead role in David Yates’ Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, so don’t be surprised to see her career take off in a big way over the next few years!

The second chapter in a prequel trilogy that began with Prometheus, Alien: Covenant connects directly to Scott’s original film from 1979. Bound for a remote planet on the far side of the galaxy, the crew of the colony ship Covenant discovers what they think is an uncharted paradise, but is actually a dark, dangerous world — whose sole inhabitant is the “synthetic” David (Michael Fassbender), survivor of the doomed Prometheus expedition.

We recently learned the Xenomorphs will appear in the movie (more details on that can be found by clicking here), a relief for fans after the lack of them in Prometheus back in 2012!
