While he comes as part of an exciting new director duo, when we spoke to Bilall Fallah for the home entertainment release for Bad Boys For Life, he was sadly just on his own (technical difficulties disallowing his partner in crime Adil El Arbi to join in the chat). But Bilall on his own has the energy of two men, and you can certainly see where this action-packed reboot of the franchise, after so many years, got its swagger from.

Fallah talks to us about the joy in directing Will Smith and Martin Lawrence, and the challenges that derived from having to create something new and exciting, while maintaining the essence of the original films – and ensuring nostalgia played a strong part. He talks about working with Michael Bay also, and we get an update on his next project, where he will again be collaborating with Adil, as the Belgian duo bring back another classic cinematic property: Beverly Hills Cop.

Synopsis

The wife and son of a Mexican drug lord embark on a vengeful quest to kill all those involved in his trial and imprisonment — including Miami Detective Mike Lowrey. When Mike gets wounded, he teams up with partner Marcus Burnett and AMMO — a special tactical squad — to bring the culprits to justice. But the old-school, wisecracking cops must soon learn to get along with their new elite counterparts if they are to take down the vicious cartel that threatens their lives.
