Combining the whimsicality of Tim Burton with the magic of Disney, Dumbo is the latest live adaptation of an old, animated classic to come from the studio. To celebrate the film’s release, we sat down with the leading stars Colin Farrell and Eva Green, as well as the upcoming stars Finley Hobbins and Nico Parker, the latter of which is Thandie Newton’s daughter (not hard to spot!)

We discuss the joys in working with a visionary like Burton, and what it is about this esteemed director that makes actors want to work with him time and time again. Green talks about perfecting her physicality for the role at hand, while Farrell comments on what it is like for an actor to be involved in films of this nature, and whether the magic of cinema has ever been diluted for him given he’s now a part of it. He also talks about his recent collaboration with Guy Ritchie and what filmmakers are left that he would love to work with. Meanwhile the two younger members of the cast discuss their experiences, and what it was like putting on American accents…

Synopsis

Struggling circus owner Max Medici enlists a former star and his two children to care for Dumbo, a baby elephant born with oversized ears. When the family discovers that the animal can fly, it soon becomes the main attraction — bringing in huge audiences and revitalising the run-down circus. The elephant’s magical ability also draws the attention of V.A. Vandevere, an entrepreneur who wants to showcase Dumbo in his latest, larger-than-life entertainment venture.

Dumbo is released on March 29th
