Not too long ago, a shortlist of actresses eyed for the lead female role in the upcoming Baywatch reboot surfaced, but one name stood out from them all, and that was of course True Detective and San Andreas star Alexandra Daddario. The studio clearly realised that she was a fan-favourite choice as Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson announced the following today:
Want to welcome the talented and gorgeous @alexannadaddario to the cast of #BAYWATCH for the role of “Summer”. Alex is a one of kind woman (I know from experience) and can’t wait for you guys to see her own the role. The female roles of #BAYWATCH have become extremely hot properties around Hollywood and as promised, the quality women we’ll cast are stepping into these roles to have fun and make them iconic for the world to enjoy. The #BaywatchFamily so far consists of a tatted up bald guy named Rock, the cool, yet extremely unattractive @zacefron, the talented and gorgeous Alexandra Daddario…and some big casting announcements coming soon. And juuuuust wait til you guys see who we cast for the iconic role of “CJ Parker”.
This news means that Ashley Benson, Nina Dobrev, Alexandra Shipp, Shelley Henning, Bianca Santos, and Denyse Tontz have all missed out on the role, but who this Baywatch reboot is going to cast as CJ Parker (played by Pamela Anderson in the original TV series) should be very interesting to see. It’s possible of course that one of the above could be considered.
While this Baywatch reboot was initially met with some scepticism, the cast is shaping up to be very exciting indeed, and The Rock alone is sure to make this movie worth watching…
