Rodrigo Blaas is in advanced talks with Dreamworks Animation to adapt his own short animation film Alma into a full-length feature.

Blaas – who has lent his hand to a number of Pixar films, including Finding Nemo and Up – will write and direct the adaptation, while none other than Guillermo Del Toro himself, who recently signed a consultant deal with DWA, will executive produce.

According to THR, Alma “centers on a young girl who gets lured into an enchanted toy store, drawn in by its beautiful collection of dolls, including one that looks just like her. She discovers only too late that the shop is nefariously intent on adding her to its permanent collection.”
