To celebrate the release of The Secret Garden, which arrives in UK cinemas and on Sky Cinema this Friday, we sat down with its cast to find out why the story is still one of the most beloved in literature and on film.

Based on the legendary book by Francis Hodgson Burnett, the new film sees Mary Lennox (Egerickx) head to Yorkshire to live with her uncle, Lord Archibald Craven (Colin Firth), and soon stumbles upon the magical titular garden and all the wonders within. Both Egerickx, Wilson, and co-star Isis Davis gave us their thoughts on why the book has endured for so long, why its characters and the world they inhabit is so alluring to audiences, and why, right now, a film like this is very much needed.
