Summit found great success with Now You See Me earlier in the year, and have already set a sequel in motion to begin production next year. And with Divergent adapting the first novel in a trilogy, they could well have another franchise on their hands here too.
Just a few months separate us from the film’s arrival on the big screen, and now the first full-length trailer has debuted online, along with the new theatrical poster.
DIVERGENT is a thrilling action-adventure film set in a future where people are divided into distinct factions based on their personalities. Tris Prior (Woodley) is warned she is Divergent and will never fit into any one group. When she discovers a conspiracy to destroy all Divergents, she must find out what makes being Divergent so dangerous before it’s too late.
Shailene Woodley is front and centre here as Tris Prior, and she stars alongside a great ensemble, led by Theo James, Miles Teller, Jai Courtney, Kate Winslet, Ashley Judd, Mekhi Phifer, Maggie Q, Zoe Kravitz, Ray Stevenson, Ansel Elgort, Christian Madsen, Amy Newbold, Ben Lloyd-Hughes, and Ben Lamb.
Neil Burger (Limitless) is behind the helm, directing from a script penned by Evan Daugherty (Snow White and the Huntsman) and Vanessa Taylor (Game of Thrones), based on Veronica Roth’s original novel.
Divergent will be released in regular and IMAX cinemas on March 21st, 2014 in the US, whilst its UK release date has been pushed back a little to 4th April.
