It has been a turbulent time for devoted fans of Sanditon, the lush period drama based on the unfinished manuscript by Jane Austen. The first season was a hit, but the show was unduly cancelled, and then suddenly revived, delighting fans and cast alike.

We recently sat down with some of the cast to talk about their time on the show, the emotional roller coaster of season 2 and what excited them most about their return.

The second series of Sanditon based on Jane Austen’s final, unfinished novel, picks up the action nine months after the first season, as the town grows in popularity, and features characters familiar and new.

The new series sees the return of Rose Williams, Crystal Clarke, Anne Reid, Kris Marshall, Kate Ashfield, Jack Fox, Charlotte Spencer, Turlough Convery, Lily Sacofsky and Adrian Scarborough.

We are also introduced to intriguing new characters this series who shake up the dynamic of the seaside town including Alison Heywood (Rosie Graham, Outlander), Alexander Colbourne (Ben Lloyd-Hughes, Industry), Colonel Francis Lennox (Tom Weston-Jones, Grace), Captain Declan Fraser (Frank Blake, Normal People), Captain William Carter (Maxim Ays, Still So Awkward) and Charles Lockhart (Alexander Vlahos, Versailles, Outlander).
