This really is good news. As the improbable and wonderful name of Diablo Cody pops up in twitter timelines and RSS feeds around the world proclaiming that the Oscar winning screenwriter is set to make her directorial debut with a religious comedy called Lamb of God.

THR report the synopsis to be as follows,

[The film] follows a young conservative religious woman who loses her faith after a plane crash, decides to go to Las Vegas to live the life of a sinner, and on her journey finds her way back to her faith.

Juno was Cody’s first brush with screenwriting success, winning her an Academy Award and beginning a creative association with Jason Reitman, whose next film Young Adult is based on a script Cody wrote. Her TV series United States of Tara was recently cancelled, having its final episode broadcast on the 20th of June, and there are a scripts of Cody’s lying in wait, notably Girly Style, a college comedy drama set in an all girls school, which is still at Universal.

The announcement that Lamb of God is moving ahead at Mandate Pictures is already being well received and casting is, apparently, imminent.
