It looks like those loveable little Minions are set for the hard-knock life this summer if the new trailer for the upcoming animated threequel Despicable Me 3 is anything to go by. Check out the frenetic and colourful new look below!

In the fourth film in Illumination Entertainment’s massively successful franchise, it looks like more of the same from our favourite Despicable characters but with two new additions, biggest of all being the introduction of Gru’s long-lost brother Dru – a wealthy, blonde-haired version of his other sibling – who wants his sibling to acclimatise himself with his villainous side, but to the delight of the Minions and to the disappointment of his new bride Lucy and his adoptive children.

In addition, there’s a new villain in town in the form of Balthazar Bratt (voiced by South Park co-creator Trey Parker) which sees Gru fired from being a secret agent and dealing with unemployment. And, of course, now being a Dad, it begins to take its toll before Dru arrives on the scene.

Here’s the official synopsis:

Gru faces off against Balthazar Bratt, a former child star who grows up to become obsessed with the character he played in the ’80s; and gets into some sibling rivalry when he meets his long-lost twin brother, Dru.

The series has gone from strength to strength since it debuted in 2010, grossing over $54million worldwide. The sequel was an even bigger success, bringing in over $970million across the world, but it’s the spin-off of the origins of the Minions that was biggest of all in 2015, earning a whopping $1.159billion globally, becoming the 2nd highest-grossing animated film of all time (behind Disney’s Frozen). It’s safe to say that the fourth installment could be just as big.

Steve Carell, Kristen Wiig, Russell Brand, Steve Coogan, Miranda Cosgrove and Julie Andrews return to lend their vocals talents alongside newcomers Parker and Jenny Slate (Gifted).

Despicable Me 3 opens on June 30th.
