Steve Carell is lending his voice in the lead once more as Gru, (ex-?)super-villain, who is hired by the Anti-Villain league to help save the world from a villain known as Eduardo.
The latest trailer we saw is more than enough to have me hooked, and with about a month and a half to go before the film hits, we can expect Universal and Illumination to start gearing up their campaign soon. And with that said, we’ve got a new poster for the film to share, with Gru looming large over his Minions.
Universal Pictures and Illumination Entertainment’s worldwide blockbuster Despicable Me entertained audiences around the globe in 2010, grossing more than $540 million and becoming the 10th-biggest animated motion picture in U.S. history. In summer 2013, get ready for more Minion madness in Despicable Me 2.
Chris Meledandri and his acclaimed filmmaking team create an all-new comedy adventure featuring the return of (former?) super-villain Gru (Steve Carell), his adorable girls, the unpredictably hilarious Minions…and a host of new and outrageously funny characters.
Carell is joined by another great voice cast, led by Russell Brand, Kristen Wiig, Benjamin Bratt, Miranda Cosgrove, Dana Gaier, Elsie Fisher, Moisés Arias, Steve Coogan, and Ken Jeong.
Bratt’s role was originally to be voiced by Al Pacino, but when he recently exited the project, Bratt was brought in to replace him as the lead villain.
Co-directors Pierre Coffin and Chris Renaud return behind the camera, directing from a script by Ken Daurio and Cinco Paul.
Despicable Me 2 will be released in the UK on 28th June, with its US release date following shortly after on July 3rd. By all accounts, this is set to be another huge hit for Illumination and Universal, and I can’t wait to see these characters back on the big screen once more.
