Constantine

Most of you will probably only know John Constantine from Francis Lawrence’s 2005 film which starred Keanu Reeves in the title role. While many fans agreed that it was an effective enough take on the character, equally as many were unhappy that he lost his blonde hair and British roots.

Well, the character will soon be getting another chance in live-action as NBC has greenlighted a pilot for Constantine, written and executive produced by The Mentalist’s Daniel Cerone as well as Man of Steel and Batman Begins scribe David S. Goyer (who is also working on Batman Vs. Superman).

This news comes on the heels of the exciting reveal from Fox that Gotham will feature origin stories for all of the Caped Crusader’s classic villains as well as a focus on Bruce Wayne/Batman (you can read more about that by clicking here). Constantine centres on,”an enigmatic and irreverent con man-turned-reluctant supernatural detective who is thrust into the role of defending us against dark forces from beyond.”

It’s believed that Constantine will also be part of Guillermo del Toro’s Justice League Dark, but as with Gotham, we still don’t know whether the television and movie DC Universe will be one and the same.
