The capital played host to a chilly premiere of Joe Wright’s Darkest Hour yesterday evening, one of the final events in this year’s cinematic calendar. Wright’s telling of the social and political storm raging against our tiny island in the Second World War is led by a sterling performance from Gary Oldman, playing one a very famous Old Man under deep prosthetics.

The film stars Lily James, Gary Oldman, Ben Mendelsohn, Stephen Dillane, Kristin Scott Thomas, and Samuel West. It is released in the US on the 22nd of November, and the 12th of January, 2018 in the UK.

Scott Davis and Colin Hart were on the premiere red carpet, here’s how they got on.

Darkest Hour Movie Synopsis

Within days of becoming Prime Minister of Great Britain, Winston Churchill (Gary Oldman) must face one of his most turbulent and defining trials: exploring a negotiated peace treaty with Nazi Germany, or standing firm to fight for the ideals, liberty and freedom of a nation. As the unstoppable Nazi forces roll across Western Europe and the threat of invasion is imminent, and with an unprepared public, a skeptical King, and his own party plotting against him, Churchill must withstand his darkest hour, rally a nation, and attempt to change the course of world history.
