Up and coming director, Steven Caple Jr. has landed the job of a lifetime by stepping in to take over directing duties on the Creed follow-up, Creed 2.

The young director, who will be making his feature film directorial debut for a major studio, has taken up the reins on which was previously reported to be helmed by Sylvester Stallone Reports suggest that production is also due to start in Spring 2018.
Tessa Thompson will return alongside Michael B. Jordan and Stallone. At this point, there are talks that Creed and Black Panther helmer, Ryan Coogler could be returning but this time as an executive producer but no deal has been struck as yet.
“It’s an honour to be a part of such an iconic franchise and to work with such great collaborators,” Caple said. “Mike, Sly, and Tessa are extraordinarily talented and bring something special to today’s culture. I look forward to joining the family and continuing the precedent set by this franchise’s alumni of incredible filmmakers.”
Stallone also took to his Instagram account to make the announcement by saying
The character of Adonis Creed reflects this generation, and I believe it is important to have a director who is part of it, that is why I think we are Lucky to have Stephen Caple Jr A wonderful new talent take over the directorial chores and make the story as relatable as possible… He and Michael B Jordan will deliver a knockout!
Caple will direct from an original screenplay written by Stallone and Cheo Hodari Coker, who was a showrunner on Luke Cage. The film is being produced by Irwin Winkler, Charles Winkler, William Chartoff, David Winkler, and Kevin King-Templeton. Jordan and Guy Riedel will executive produce.
The film is slated for a November 21st 2018 release.
