Colin Trevorrow’s brilliant feature directorial debut with Safety Not Guaranteed is one of the year’s must-see films.

After a brilliant reception at its world premiere at Sundance in January, it then came across the shores for Sundance London last month, where I fell in love with it – you can read our five-star review of the film here.

We’ve seen a handful of great things from the film already, including the terrific first trailer, and now the film’s official site has debuted a brilliant little clip, entitled ‘Stormtroopers’.

“From the producers of Little Miss Sunshine – When an unusual classified ad inspires three cynical Seattle magazine employees to look for the story behind it, they discover a mysterious eccentric named Kenneth, a likable but paranoid supermarket clerk, who believes hes solved the riddle of time travel and intends to depart again soon. Together, they embark on a hilarious, smart, and unexpectedly heartfelt journey that reveals how far believing can take you.”

Aubrey Plaza is just fantastic in the lead, with a terrific cast alongside her headed up by Mark Duplass (writer-director of Jeff, Who Lives At Home), Jake M. Johnson (New Girl), Karan Soni, Mary Lynn Rajskub (24), and Jeff Garlin (Curb Your Enthusiasm), with Trevorrow directing from a script by Derek Connolly, who also makes his feature debut.

Safety Not Guaranteed will be getting a limited release in the US on 8th June – you can head to the film’s official Facebook page to see if it’s playing in your city. As I understand it, the film will open in New York, Los Angeles, Seattle, and Portland on that first day, and continue on to other cities if it gets the warm reception it deserves.

As yet, we’re still waiting and hoping for a UK release to be announced, and we’ll be sure to bring you word as soon as it comes if it’s secured. For now, enjoy Plaza, Johnson, and Soni talking lasers and Stormtroopers.
