Pixar’s latest feature is coming to the big screen this summer, and we’ve already seen plenty of great things from it that show it has the potential that essentially everything the studio does has.

Adding to all we’ve seen so far, we now have a new featurette, entitled ‘Kilt’, showing off the clothes of the film’s male characters, courtesy of Apple. And to go nicely alongside that is a new set of hi-res concept artwork, via Rope of Silicon and IMDb, by a handful of the artists who worked on the project.

Brave is set in the mystical Scottish Highlands, where Merida (Kelly Macdonald) is the princess of a kingdom ruled by King Fergus (Billy Connolly) and Queen Elinor (Emma Thompson). An unruly daughter and an accomplished archer, Merida one day defies a sacred custom of the land and inadvertently brings turmoil to the kingdom. In an attempt to set things right, Merida seeks out an eccentric old Wise Woman (Julie Walters) and is granted an ill-fated wish. Also figuring into Merida’s quest — and serving as comic relief — are the kingdom’s three lords: the enormous Lord MacGuffin (Kevin McKidd), the surly Lord Macintosh (Craig Ferguson), and the disagreeable Lord Dingwall (Robbie Coltrane).”

Co-directed by Mark Andrews (head of story on The Incredibles) and Brenda Chapman (The Prince of Egypt), the film features a great voice cast that includes the likes of Kelly Macdonald, Emma Thompson, Billy Connolly, Julie Walters, Robbie Coltrane, Kevin McKidd, and Craig Ferguson.

And not only that, but we can also look forward to the Oscar-nominated short, La Luna, attached to the film beforehand – make sure you get to the cinema on time this summer, because that’s going to be something you’ll want to see.

Brave will be released in the US on 22nd June, before coming to the UK a little later in the summer on 17th August. Whilst you wait, the new featurette and concept art (the latter of which you can click to enlarge).
