Angelina Jolie returns to the big screen for her first live-action feature since 2010’s The Tourist in Maleficent, the upcoming Disney feature telling the Sleeping Beauty story from the perspective of the evil sorceress.

We got our first look at Jolie in the eponymous role earlier this summer, and now The Sun are reporting that Brad Pitt and Jolie’s youngest daughter, Vivienne Jolie-Pitt, is set to make her acting debut in the film at fours years old, starring as the young Princess Aurora.

“This is the untold story of Disney’s most beloved villain, Maleficent, from the 1959 classic “Sleeping Beauty.” The film reveals the events that hardened her heart and drove her to curse the baby, Aurora.”

Elle Fanning stars as the older Princess Aurora, with Juno Temple, Sharlto Copley, Sam Riley, India Eisley, and Miranda Richardson completing the cast.

An insider said of the young Vivienne joining the cast,

“Ange thought it would be a fun experience for her and Viv to share, and Viv is a natural.

“The other kids are now nagging Ange and Brad to land them roles.”

Oscar-winning visual effects designer Robert Stromberg (Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End, Pan’s Labyrinth) is making his directorial debut, directing from a script by long-time Disney screenwriter, Linda Woolverton (Beauty and the Beast, The Lion King).

Maleficent is currently in production in the UK, and is set to be released on 14th March, 2014. We’ve still got some years to go before it reaches theatres, but it will be interesting to see how dark a take it is on the original story. More as we get it.
