This weeks marks the release of Blinded by the Light, a musical coming-of-age drama set in Luton in the 1980s, telling the tale of a young British-Pakistani who falls in love with Bruce Springsteen. We had the pleasure of sitting down with the talent from both behind and in front of the lens, speaking to director Gurinder Chadha (Bend it Like Beckham) as well as the very man this film is based upon, Sarfraz Manzoor. We also spoke to leading actors Viveik Kalra and Aaron Phagura. You can watch all three of our interviews below, as we discuss all things related to The Boss, and the experiences making this charming little production.

Synopsis

Javed is a British teen of Pakistani descent growing up in 1987 England. Amidst the racial and economic turmoil of the times, he writes poetry as a means to escape the intolerance of his hometown and the inflexibility of his traditional father. But when a classmate introduces him to the music of Bruce Springsteen, Javed sees parallels to his working-class life in the powerful lyrics. As Javed discovers an outlet for his own pent-up dreams, he also begins to express himself in his own voice.

Blinded by the Light is released on August 9th
