Once he finishes promoting David Fincher’s Gone Girl, Ben Affleck will return to Detroit to continue shooting Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. However, it appears as if he has already lined up his next acting role!

According to a new report, Affleck is in talks to star in action thriller The Accountant for Warner Bros. in which he will play a mild-mannered accountant who moonlights as a lethal assassin. That’s certainly a very different type of role to take on after playing the iconic Caped Crusader in Zack Snyder’s superhero movie.

Though no offer has been made yet, Warrior helmer Gavin O’Connor is said to be the top choice to direct.

The Accountant was written by Bill DuBuque and it’s a project which has been in the works for a number of years at various studios. Will Smith was at one point attached to star before the movie moved elsewhere and Mel Gibson was looking to direct it. Work on The Accountant picked up when Affleck expressed his interest.

Apparently, the actor caught wind of it and thought it would be a nice change of pace before he directs Live By Night next summer and likely follows that by starring in Justice League once again as Batman.
