It’s no secret that I’m a big Jerry Bruckheimer fan, in fact with all the Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time coverage over the last week or so, I’ve made that very clear. I got to meet the man himself at the World Premiere of the movie on Sunday and asked him about the upcoming Pirates of the Caribbean movie which is to start filming next month. It turns out that what I should have been asking about was Bad Boys 3!

Fear not though as Edward Douglas from Comingsoon.net (who I also had the pleasure of meeting last week) has come through with the goods and asked Bruckheimer about any movement on the Michael Bay directed third installment. I’m pleased to report that the answer is indeed ‘yes’.

Talking to Edward he said:

“It’s a wish and a hope and a dream. We’ve been working on a screenplay, which is excellent. It’s an idea Will gave us, so hopefully, it will come to fruition, we would love it to [work out].”

Bear in mind that this is still very early in the process. Will Smith is currently tied up to appear in Men in Black 3 and Michael Bay is tied to Transformers 3. There’s also the problem for Sony (who own the rights to the movie) that Michael Bay was the highest paid director last year and according to Vanity Fair took home an estimated $125m, with Will Smith also commanding a massive salary for every movie he does. This would mean that Bad Boys 3 could cost the studio a fortune…. a fortune that they may not recoup at the ticket office.

I guess we’ll have to wait and see but we’ll obviously be keeping you posted on any further developments.
