After the teaser trailer for the upcoming Total Recall remake surfaced yesterday, we now have a rather cool first character banner of Colin Farrell in the lead, in the role first played by Arnold Schwarzenegger.
Len Wiseman (Underworld) has assembled a pretty damn awesome cast, including the likes of Farrell, Kate Beckinsale (Wiseman’s real-life wife), Jessica Biel, Bryan Cranston, Bill Nighy, John Cho, and Ethan Hawke.
“Total Recall is an action thriller about reality and memory, inspired anew by the famous short story “We Can Remember It For You Wholesale” by Philip K. Dick. Welcome to Rekall, the company that can turn your dreams into real memories. For a factory worker named Douglas Quaid (Colin Farrell), even though he’s got a beautiful wife (Kate Beckinsale) who he loves, the mind-trip sounds like the perfect vacation from his frustrating life – real memories of life as a super-spy might be just what he needs. But when the procedure goes horribly wrong, Quaid becomes a hunted man. A full-length trailer is expected to air this Sunday, before an extended trailer then hits the net through Apple (who are sharing this new banner with us), so expect plenty of new footage to surface from the film this weekend – you can be sure we’ll be bringing it to you as and when it hits.
Total Recall will be released in the US on 3rd August, before coming to the UK a few weeks later on 22nd August, and I have to admit, the cast alone is enough to make me want to see it.
Following on from the spot-the-influence idea in the first trailer, is it just me or does this first banner remind you a little/lot of Source Code? I’ve embedded the poster for Duncan Jones’ brilliant film below for comparison. Maybe all these influences/references are intentional? We’ll find out this summer.
