As principal photography has commenced, Armie Hammer and Gary Oldman have joined Evangeline Lilly on the cast of Nicholas Jarecki‘s ‘Dreamland’.

The film follows three stories about the world of opioids: a drug trafficker arranges a multi-cartel Fentanyl smuggling operation between Canada and the U.S., an architect recovering from an OxyContin addiction tracks down the truth behind her son’s involvement with narcotics, and a university professor battles unexpected revelations about his research employer, a drug company with deep government influence bringing a new “non-addictive” painkiller to market.

Arbitrage filmmaker, Jarecki has written and directed the project, on the casting announcement Jarecki stated:

The devastating impact of the opioid crisis reaches all corners of society, Gary, Armie, and Evangeline are the perfect performers to bring the human face of this epidemic to audiences everywhere.”

Filming is will be taking place in Montreal and Detroit. Jarecki will also act as producer alongside ‘Dallas Buyers Club’s’ Cassian Elwes.

Hammer was last seen in Boot’s Riley’s ‘Sorry To Bother You’ his next film will see him star opposite Felicity Jones in Ruth Bader-Ginsburg biopic ‘On The Basis of Sex’. He will also be seen in the real-life drama ‘Hotel Mumbai opposite Dev Patel. He is also attached to Kenneth Brangh’s ‘Death on the Nile’ and Ben Wheatley’s ‘Rebecca’ with Lily James.

Oldman, who won both an Oscar and BAFTA for his role as Winston Churchill in the ‘Darkest Hour’ was last seen opposite Gerard Butler in ‘Hunter Killer’. His upcoming features include Steve Soderbergh’s ‘The Laundromat’ and Killers Anonymous.
