We are on a fun journey through Ridley Scott’s past at the moment. Not content with plundering the Alien mythos with Prometheus in 2012, and Alien Covenant a few weeks away, we’re also due to catch up with Blade Runner 2049 in October. We’re still waiting for the second trailer for that film to emerge following an enthusiastic reception at CinemaCon, however today brings more Alien Covenant images to tease your expectancy.

These new images open up the world a litte from the trailers already released. We know that any ship of humans in an Alien film is little more than a sardine tin for whichever variant of the ravenous xenomorph they’ll encounter, so the mystery here is why are they (both aliens and humans) here? The Engineers (the creatures beneath the wonderfully-weird Space Jockey outfit in the first Alien film) were present at the very beginning of Prometheus, and it seems we’ll find out what their sushi/hara-kiri moment at the very start of the Alien story was all about.
The 19th of May is when Alien Covenant will be released in cinemas across the globe. Lots of eyes and ears out for who well this one does, not least Sir Ridley, who has talked about more Alien films, with another sequel written and already plans for many more. Many more.
Here are the three TV spots in the guise of crew messages home. It’s a fun conceit, and plays nicely into the world building they are doing.
Here’s another poster for the film, teasing a close encounter for Katherine Waterston.
