The Oscar-nominated Anna Kendrick (Up in the Air) is best known for her work on screen, starring alongside George Clooney in Up in the Air, Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Seth Rogen in 50/50, and the Twilight ensemble, but what you might not know about the brilliant young actress is that she’s also an amazing singer, and that she was the third-youngest person to ever be nominated for a Tony Award at the age of just twelve.

Kendrick returns to the big screen later this year in Pitch Perfect, a musical-comedy surrounding an all-girls a cappella group, and after catching the excellent first trailer and images a few weeks back, MSN have now treated us to the first clip, giving us a great taste of the music we have to look forward to – if you’re a fan of Glee, this is almost certainly going to be a film you won’t want to miss.

“Beca is that girl who’d rather listen to what’s coming out of her headphones than what’s coming out of you. Arriving at her new college, she finds herself not right for any clique but somehow is muscled into one that she never would have picked on her own: alongside mean girls, sweet girls and weird girls whose only thing in common is how good they sound when they sing together.

When Beca takes this acoustic singing group out of their world of traditional arrangements and perfect harmonies into all-new mash-ups, they fight to climb their way to the top of the cutthroat world of college “a cappella.” This could wind up either the coolest thing they’ll ever do or the most insane, and it will probably be a little of both.”

Starring alongside Kendrick in the lead will be a great supporting cast, headed up by Brittany Snow (John Tucker Must Die), Rebel Wilson (Bridesmaids), Alexis Knapp (Project X), Adam DeVine (Workaholics), and Christopher Mintz-Plasse (Kick-Ass), with the excellent Elizabeth Banks (The Hunger Games) producing.

Avenue Q’s John Moore (One Tree Hill) is making his feature directorial debut, with a script from Kay Cannon (30 Rock), who adapts Mickey Rapkin’s original book.

Pitch Perfect will hitting the big screen on 5th October in the US, before heading to the UK a little later on 19th October. I can’t wait. For now, enjoy this great new clip, featuring some awesome a cappella.
