I was lucky enough to see 2012 last night and my review is nearly finished but will not be published until next week. In the meantime, here’s some news that to me makes perfect sense and I had an incling might happen anyway. There are some content spoilers below so don’t read on if you wish to know nothing about the movie:
Entertainment Weekly has interviewed 2012 director Roland Emmerich who has said that a TV series will follow the movie and that it’s already in development.

He said: “The plan is that it is 2013 and it’s about what happens after the disaster,” Emmerich told the magazine. “It is about the resettling of Earth. That is very, very fascinating.”
Emmerich added that he thinks the show “will focus on a group of people who survived but not on the boats… maybe they were on a piece of land that was spared or one that became an island in the process of the crust moving.”
