Even the most die-hard comic book fans acknowledge the fact that Ant-Man is perhaps Marvel’s riskiest movie yet, while some even called for it to be scrapped when it was revealed that Edgar Wright (who had been developing the movie since 2006) had decided to depart the project over “creative differences”.

Regardless, Ant-Man is still happening, albeit with a new writer and director. Though the likes of Captain America and Iron Man were B and C-List characters who were propelled into the A-List by their movies, this pint-sized superhero is even lower down the totem pole, but Marvel still has a potential hit on their hands.

After all, Guardians of the Galaxy looks set to be a huge success, and it wasn’t too long ago that people laughed off the idea of a movie starring a quirky team of heroes which included a talking raccoon…

Ant-Man has all the makings of yet another Marvel Studios success story, and in the ten points below, we tell you everything you need to know about the characters who will be featured in the movie and bring you bang up to date with who’s making it, who’s in it, and all of the latest plot details and rumours.

10. It’s About Scott Lang…

Paul Rudd

There had been a lot of speculation about which version of Ant-Man this movie would focus on, but it was finally confirmed not too long ago that it will be Scott Lang, the second man to hold the title in the comics. Like the original version of the character, Lang hasn’t had a huge amount of success in his own solo series’, but his story is perhaps the most interesting.

He starts life off as a crook and steals the Ant-Man suit in a bid to use it to steal the money he needs for his sick daughter’s treatment. His time as the pint-sized superhero came to an end when he died in the pages of Avengers Disassembled, but he would be brought back a few years later and has since served as a member of the Fantastic Four and has a key role in the Original Sin event.

He’s Marvel’s #1 Ant-Man as of right now, and with Paul Rudd cast in the role, we’re likely in for one of Marvel Studios’ most interesting heroes yet.
