There’s been talk of a live-action Star Wars TV series for years now, and while there were apparently hundreds of scripts written, budgetary issues meant that George Lucas was never able to get it together.
Things have changed though. The Flash and Game of Thrones show what amazing CGI feats can be achieved on TV on a weekly basis, and Disney – the new owners of Lucasfilm – have found success by allowing their Marvel Cinematic Universe to stretch to TV with Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and Daredevil.
It was recently reported that a live-action Star Wars TV series is once again in the works, and that got us thinking about what that and any number of shows could focus on. With a new Star Wars trilogy and spinoffs all on the way, it seems insane to think Disney and Lucasfilm won’t extend their reach to the small screen.
Here, we take a look at ten of our favourite possibilities, exploring what makes them right for television and why they would make for compelling viewing. The studio would be foolish to not at least consider these…

Unless Felicity Jones is playing her in Gareth Edwards’ Star Wars: Rogue One, exploring Princess Leia’s younger years in a TV series could work really well. Her late teens/early twenties would be ideal, and it could easily lead up to where Leia was when we met her in A New Hope over the course of a few seasons.
It was clear from the moment we met her that Leia could handle herself (and that she had some history interacting with the Empire), so there’s a lot of ground which could be covered in a series where she’s the lead. Networks still seem reluctant to give the green light to female led shows – Agent Carter for example was a hit with critics but far from a ratings smash – but this is Princess Leia we’re talking about here…
