During this year’s San Diego Comic-Con, Wesley Snipes (who is in the process of attempting to rebuild his career) received plenty of mainstream media attention when he claimed that he had been talking to Marvel about returning as Blade in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Whether or not that’s true remains to be seen, but it has since been rumoured that the upcoming Blade comic book series (which focuses on the character’s daughter, with Blade taking on a mentor-like role) will be the basis for the Daywalker’s return to the big screen.

The actor continues to tease Blade’s return, and had this to say about where things currently stand in his recent talks with Marvel “There’s always a possibility, you know. It’s in Marvel’s hands. They’re controlling the pace and the flow with that. Conversations have been good. They see the value in it. We see the value in it. I’m still in shape enough and fit enough to handle the role. We’ll see how it goes. I don’t really know what’s going to happen to it yet.”

In all honesty, the actor could just be hoping that if he talks about this movie happening enough, it will, but the demand from Blade really isn’t there. Even so, Snipes would still like to see the vampire hunter team-up with The Avengers. “That would be interesting. I mean, I know it’s in the comic book. It would be interesting to see where they would place him and where he really would fit in. He’s got to bite somebody. I don’t know who he’s going to bite.”

Marvel holds the rights to Blade, but the small screen (perhaps a Netflix series) seems much better suited for the character, and Phase 3 is already packed. Do you think it will happen?
