Kenneth Branagh has been making a series of very interesting choices as a director in recent years, switching from Thor to a production of Macbeth for the National Theatre, and then on to Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit.
Returning to the world of action blockbusters to reboot the franchise, Branagh’s latest movie will be arriving in cinemas over the holiday period at the end of the year. And after launching the first trailer and teaser poster at the start of the month, Paramount has released a new trailer to follow them up.
In a story taking place prior to the original Jack Ryan stories, Ryan is a young stock broker working for a billionaire in Moscow before joining the CIA. When the billionaire he is advising frames him for a terrorist plot and kidnaps his wife, Ryan must race against time to clear his name, stop the plot, and save his wife.
Chris Pine takes the lead this time around as the eponymous Jack Ryan, starring alongside Keira Knightley, Kevin Costner, and Kenneth Branagh himself.
Branagh, the five-time Oscar nominee, is directing from a script penned by Adam Cozad and David Koepp (Spider-Man).
Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit will be hitting hard on Christmas Day in the US, with its UK release date following very shortly after on Boxing Day. In the meantime, here’s the latest trailer to help make the wait a little easier. Enjoy.
