As the director and writer of Hyena, Gerard Johnson also teamed up with his brother – who provided the soundtrack – and cousin Peter Ferdinando, who plays the leading role. Needless to say, this is a personal project the filmmaker felt extremely passionate about – and that came through when we sat down to discuss the dark crime thriller.
Johnson explained where the idea first originated from for this screenplay, and the joy in working alongside his family – as well as talented actors such as Stephen Graham and Richard Dormer. He also talks about what he has in the pipeline, and the current state of the British film industry.
