Comedy man of the moment Zach Galifianakis has been chatting to EW about his involvement in the new Muppet film during a promo tour for new film Due Date (which co-stars Robert Downey Jr and opens over here on 5th November).

He doesn’t mention much, but reveals that he has been talking to the makers about appearing in it. These are Jason Segel and Nick Stoller, who are both co-wrote on the project. Stoller was the director on Segal’s Forgetting Sarah Marshall, and the creative force behind that film’s spin-off from this year, Get Him to the Greek.

This new take on The Muppets (the first since 2005’s TV feature The Muppets’ Wizard of Oz) stars Segel and a new Muppet named Walter as they try to save the Muppet studio from closure.

Here’s hoping Galifianakis signs on that dotted line. His appearance will almost certainly add a good dose of comedy to proceedings and guarantee at least one huge belly laugh or two.
