The only confirmed cast members in Wolverine 3 so far are Hugh Jackman and Patrick Stewart, though Narcos star Boyd Holbrook has also been rumoured for a villainous role.
However, it sounds like we can add another big name from the X-Men comic books to the list of characters who will be making their presence felt here, as a new report points to an appearance from X-23. There’s no word on who will be playing her, but seeing as she’s late teens in the comics, it will probably be a younger, lesser known actress who is cast.
Currently Wolverine in the Marvel Comics Universe (as you can see in the image above), X-23 started off as a product of the Weapon X program cloned from a damaged sample of Wolverine’s DNA. Since she could walk, she was actually trained to kill Wolverine, but instead she joined the X-Men becoming his daughter figure and eventually, Logan’s successor.
It wouldn’t be remotely surprising to see this movie – believed to be a loose adaptation of the Old Man Logan storyline – utilise a similar storyline here, and giving Wolverine a sidekick of sorts who has the potential to carry her own movie down the line would also work well.
After all, Jackman is hanging up his claws after this one, and Fox needs a new Wolverine!
