Boyd Holbrook hit the big time last year with a star making turn in Netflix’s Narcos, and now he looks set to take on a leading role in a superhero movie. According to Deadline, the actor has landed the role of the lead villain in Wolverine 3, Hugh Jackman’s final appearance as the clawed mutant and a possible adaptation of Mark Millar and Steve McNiven’s Old Man Logan.

Who is he playing? Well, there are conflicting reports, but it sounds like it may be an original creation. All we know for the time being is that his character is described as, “a relentless, calculating and intense head of security for a global enterprise who is set against Wolverine.”

David James Kelly wrote the latest draft of this currently untitled Wolverine movie, and the only other confirmed cast member besides Jackman is Patrick Stewart. If this is an adaptation of Old Man Logan, it won’t bear too many similarities to the comic books due to the fact that that story features so many characters Fox don’t hold the rights to.

However, Holbrook’s role sounds vaguely similar to the one the Red Skull played in the source material, so it will be interesting to see how many parallels there are in Wolverine 3.
