Production on X-Men: Days of Future Past follow-up X-Men: Apocalypse (which will once again be helmed by Bryan Singer) is now beginning to gain steam, and with Tom Hardy apparently being eyed for the role of the titular villain, a shortlist of actors for Cyclops and Jean Grey has now found its way online via the trades.

Wolverine told Charles Xavier to track down younger versions of Scott Summers, Jean Grey and Storm during X-Men: Days of Future Past, and the sequel – which takes place in the 80s – will indeed feature younger versions of the characters originally played by James Marsden, Famke Janssen, and Halle Berry.

According to a new report, Chloe Moretz (Kick-Ass), Elle Fanning (Maleficent), and Hailee Steinfeld (True Grit) are all being eyed for the role of Jean Grey. No offers have been made, but meetings have taken place.

As for Cyclops, three young actors have also been named as being on this shortlist, and they include Ben Hardy (Eastenders), Charlie Rowe (Red Band Society) and Timothee Chalamet (Interstellar).

That’s a varied group of young actors, but as both Cyclops and Jean Grey will likely have a huge role in X-Men: Apocalypse, it makes sense that Singer is looking for the most talented youngsters possible.
