White-House-Down-PosterRoland Emmerich’s White House Down promises to be an awesome blockbuster this summer, with Channing Tatum continuing to cement his status as a strong leading man in Hollywood.

Tatum is joined by Jamie Foxx and Maggie Gyllenhaal in the leading trio for White House Down, and that is definitely a cast we’re excited about.

The film’s first teaser posters have debuted this week, and now the first trailer has landed over on moviefone, giving us an awesome first look at the film.

Our own Stefan Pope was fortunate enough to be in attendance at a special preview screening of footage from the film tonight, which included a Q&A with Emmerich himself, and you can read our White House Down preview report here.

In Columbia Pictures’ White House Down, Capitol Policeman John Cale (Channing Tatum) has just been denied his dream job with the Secret Service of protecting President James Sawyer (Jamie Foxx). Not wanting to let down his little girl with the news, he takes her on a tour of the White House, when the complex is overtaken by a heavily armed paramilitary group. Now, with the nation’s government falling into chaos and time running out, it’s up to Cale to save the president, his daughter, and the country.

Tatum, Foxx, and Gyllenhaal star alongside a great cast, led by Jason Clarke, James Woods, Richard Jenkins, Jake Weber, Lance Reddick, and Joey King.

Emmerich is directing from a script by James Vanderbilt (Zodiac, The Amazing Spider-Man). I loved what Vanderbilt did on writing The Amazing Spider-Man last year, and am looking forward to his follow-up here.

White House Down will be released on June 28th in the US, with its UK release date set a little later for 6th September. Here’s the first trailer to get your anticipation rising, along with a new poster featuring Tatum front and centre. Enjoy.
