A first look at the third film in the new Planet of the Apes trilogy has arrived. Set to appear in the form of some first look footage at this weekend’s New York Comic-Con a teaser announcement for War for the Planet of the Apes has been shown. And things aren’t looking good for Andy Serkis and Co.

Matt Reeves returns to direct the third instalment and joining Serkis are Woody Harrelson, Steve Zahn, Judy Greer, Karin Konoval, Amiah Miller and Terry Notary.

Here’s how that pesky Planet of the Apes stands after the events of Dawn and Rise.

In War for the Planet of the Apes, the third chapter of the critically acclaimed blockbuster franchise, Caesar and his apes are forced into a deadly conflict with an army of humans led by a ruthless Colonel. After the apes suffer unimaginable losses, Caesar wrestles with his darker instincts and begins his own mythic quest to avenge his kind. As the journey finally brings them face to face, Caesar and the Colonel are pitted against each other in an epic battle that will determine the fate of both their species and the future of the planet.

Things are looking grim, and the first look (or listen at least) at Caesar from this latest film suggests that not all of our Simian friends will makes it out of this one alive…
