A sequel to 2004’s highly successful District 13, French filmmaking legend Luc Besson returns as writer/producer, as do the first film’s stars David Belle and Cyril Raffaelli. For those unfamiliar with the acting duo, David Belle is the primary founder of Parkour (which is heavily featured in both District 13 films) and Cyril Raffaelli is an incredible martial artist and stuntman who is also a Parkour practitioner/traceur. Patrick Alessandrin took over directing duties for the sequel from Pierre Morel, who directed the first District 13 movie, as Morel has been busy with his follow up films Taken (starring Liam Nesson) and the upcoming From Paris with Love (starring John Travolta).
District 13: Ultimatum is not a particularly well-made film but much like its predecessor is extremely entertaining from an action standpoint, which is something that cannot be said for most action movies which have been made in Hollywood over this past decade.
