Had this film come out ten days previous, it would’ve topped many a list for best film of 2019. Alas, it’s arrived just a little late, but what a way to begin the new decade, as Uncut Gems is one of the most intense and exhilarating cinematic experiences you’ll have had in a long, long time.

To celebrate the film’s UK theatrical release (coming just three weeks ahead of its Netflix launch) we had the pleasure of sitting down with the directors, and brothers, Josh and Benny Safdie. We discuss the sheer intensity of the film and how it was for them both living with that every day in the editing suite. They also speak about collaborating with Adam Sandler, and what made him right for this role, and finally we get chatting about Basketball, which plays a pretty big part in this films narrative.
