With its stellar leading quartet of Ben Stiller, Vince Vaughn, Jonah Hill, and Richard Ayoade, The Watch is promising to be one of the funniest comedies of the summer.

After recently undergoing a name-change from the original title, Neighborhood Watch, the film’s new US poster surfaced earlier this month, and now we’ve been sent the new UK trailer and (similar) quad poster ahead of its release here in two months’ time.

“Four everyday suburban guys come together to form a neighborhood watch group, but only as an excuse to escape their humdrum lives one night a week. But when they accidentally discover that their town has become overrun with aliens posing as ordinary suburbanites, they have no choice but to save their neighborhood–and the world–from total extermination.”

Akiva Schaffer (Hot Rod, SNL regular) is behind the camera, directing from a script promisingly co-written by Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg, and Jared Stern. Billy Crudup, Rosemarie DeWitt, and Will Forte round out the supporting cast nicely, and things are definitely looking good for the comedy sci-fi.

The Watch will be released in the US next month on 27th July, before coming to our shores a little later for a 29th August release. In the UK, that puts it head-to-head with Total Recall, and since the two should be playing to largely different audiences, it should be a great end to the summer box office here. Here’s the new trailer, followed by the UK quad poster (which you can click to enlarge), whilst you wait.
