Notoriously publicity-shy Kevin Smith has been chatting to MTV in the US about the work coming together on his next (and final?) film Hit Somebody. The story of a hockey player with a talent for fighting, it’s based on the song of the same name by the late, great Warren Zevon.

Red State (Smith’s new film which premiered at this year’s Sundance) seems to have been a positive creative experience for the Clerks auteur as he’s cast a number of actors from that film in roles in ‘Somebody’, alongside plans to include a couple of older faces from the View Askew universe.

He mentions that he’ll be doing some work in Boston and will thus try to convince both Ben Affleck and Matt Damon to appear in the film. It will be interesting to see if they bite. Both are in a very different position to the days of Dogma, but who knows, they may help out an old friend.

Smith is still finishing up the script, but if this is intended to be his farewell to cinema, (some of you may be breath a sigh of relief out there), he may be thinking of more names from the past to include here. I wonder if Jay and Silent Bob will make an appearance?
